misc...

First I have to say that my favorite radio station has been playing Drive by Incubus. I just love that song. I always wonder where these djs come up with songs from the past. I remember when my boys were teenagers and they loved Incubus. I was never a big fan but I thought they were the lesser of the evils. The other choices were Rage Against the Machine and a few other horrible heavy metal bands.

Second, I have spent SO much money over the past week or two. I have to stop! First the shoes. This weekend I placed my SU order. I don't have a total but it's well over 100. I placed an order with A Million Little Things for some cool Urban Lily secret cards and a bunch of other things, I ordered from Paper Wishes (pink scalloped circle punch & other), I went to the lss the other day and bought an Impression Obsession stamp, some Paper cuts scalloped cards and a bunch of other stuff. I got a Rubber Soul stamp set to make baby shower favors (travel set). The list goes on and on. Oh yeah, forgot about my Lia Sophia order from yesterday. Yikes...I have to stop!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I'm so afraid of the freeze I'll be in again for a long time.

My fun weekend....

I took a clear album class with Angela Moen of The Button Farm this weekend at my lss. Angela is a lot of fun to take a class with and she's so talented!! I had a great time laughing with Brenda and Angela. If you ever get the chance to take her class, I would highly recommend it.

Oh, and Suzy West of Canvas Concepts came into the store with some other ladies during class. I heard that Tim Holtz was nearby and really wanted to stalk! LOL

We made this. The inside pages are SO cute but I don't want to share the whole thing!

I finished my album tonight after a fun Lia Sophia open house where I spent too much (ooops). Then I decided to make a card with some of the scraps. The 5th Avenue line from MM is adorable!! I used SU marigold morning for the cs.

Friday's Feast One Hundred Eighty Five

Appetizer

What does the color dark green make you think of?

Limes - I love lime flavor (key lime pie, margaritas, etc.).

Soup

How many cousins do you have? Oh boy, let me count....I have 19 first cousins on my mom's side. I am very close to all of them and they range from 8 yrs. to 55 yrs. I have 9 cousins on my dad's side and I don't even know their married/last names!!

Salad

On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being highest, how honest are you? I'd say about 9? I can't hide anything and therefore can't lie. Not only that but I hate being lied to. I can tell a white lie if need be though.

Main Course

Name something that is truly free. Love - as in Sheryl Crow's new song, "Love is Free."

Dessert

Using the letters in the word SPRING, write a sentence.

Silly people really instigate new giggles. (sorry, this really has me stumped today!!!)

What a Difference a Day Makes...

Didn't I just say that with my spring post?!! Well....I woke up to snow this morning - no more exposed grass anywhere. We had a cuple of inches and it's now sleeting.
This is the view driving out of my neighborhood.

This is not a great shot but I was driving down the street and there wasn't anyone behind me. I wanted to show the pond that started to finally melt yesterday. This is not the greatest area to take the photo with the fence and all that but there was someone coming from the other direction when I got to the nice view.

Spring photo challenge...

Kathy M over at Scrapbook Addict challenged us to a spring photo. Well....in New England it's not quite spring yet. I took these photos of my yard to show that we really do have snow left on the ground.

I will say that a day makes a huge difference. Spring for me is when I can see the ice melting from the sides of the large pond down the street. Yesterday I could barely see it on one side, where the sun hits. Today I drove by and there was a good couple of feet of water from at the shoreline. It's so hard to pull over and take a picture though. It's a narrow winding road.

All work, no play...

Ugh....sometimes I hate this time of year. It's SO busy here. Most people think we should be winding down by now (I forget who posted a comment about that).

Anyway, we have awards ceremony, 2 major lectures, it's end of our fiscal year and it's just crazy. We also have a summer session to get ready for.

With that said, I just dropped in to say I hope to be posting my "spring" photo tomorrow.

Card lift....

What's a girl to do when she has nothing interesting to post about? Post a card. Boring, I know. I made this based on a Paper Crafts Magazine online project. Click on the link and scroll to "subscribe" and you'll see the photo of the card I copied. Of course, theirs is much cuter but I had some scraps to use and I thought I'd try it. My son liked it so much, he changed his mind on the one he thought his gf would like best. So this will be for her. I'll have to make another to have in my stash.

I did scrap last night. I finished a double pg. lo of Thanksgiving 07. Moving on to snowmobiling tonight.....

Weekend update...

I hope everyone had a nice Easter weekend. I did. It was quiet but nice. Usually we get together with my whole family (approx. 25-30) people. This year no one wanted to do it. We spent the day at home in our comfy clothes, enjoying each others company.

My oldest came by himself (well, he brought little Reese). His gf went to see her mom. We ate a ton - ham, Cracker Barrel potatoes, broccoli, corn, bread, and lots of candy! I seriously need to diet this week.

Anyway, we had fun playing with Reese and talking to our boys and my mom. Of course, the boys retired to Man Town in the basement. My dh had to try out my ds' guitar to see if he needs yet another guitar. He's recently started collecting! And he thought my sb supplies cost us a bundle....

Card for a friend...

My friend, Kimi, has been so sick so I sent her a card to cheer her. She was so sweet to post about it on her blog so I thought I'd post.

I used SU certainly celery cs & ribbon, Cool Caribbean ink & cs, ink in Close to Cocoa, Friendship Blooms stamp sets, Mike's $1 stamps (sentiment).

Friday's Feast One Hundred Eighty Four

Appetizer

Given the choice, would you prefer to live in the country or in the city? I'm definitely a country girl!

Soup

Who is the cutest kid you know?

Hmmmm....That's a tough one. I think it would be my niece's son. He is the spitting image of my youngest when he was that age.

Salad

Fill in the blank: I couldn’t believe it when I heard about the woman who was killed by a stingray! She was in a boat and it jumped on board and killed her!!!

Main Course

If you could star in a commercial for one of your favorite products, which one would you want to advertise?

The first thing that comes to mind is South Beach Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies! They do not taste like a diet cookie at all.

Dessert

What type(s) of vitamins and/or supplements do you take on a regular basis?

I take a multi-vitamin, 2 fish oil, vitamin D daily.

A mom's work is never done....

My oldest son came for band practice last night (he lives on his own). Walked in the door late with a basket full of laundry. I happened to be at the door taking my clothes out of the dryer.

I said, "Oh, did you bring me presents?" And he said, "Ya, if you don't mind. Love ya, Mom" and ran downstairs for practice. I mumbled, "Ya, love you too, Ev!" to thin air.

I did two loads of his laundry between 6:30 and just about 9. His whites were still in the dryer when he was ready to leave. I asked how much time did he think they'd take?!! He thought I'd do one load with the colors/whites mixed. Even if I did (which I wouldn't), it would not have fit.

I'm rambling about stupid things today but that's all that's on my mind right now.

Oh yeah, and YIPPEEEEE! We will have Easter dinner with at least one son (mentioned above). Now I need to talk his brother into it.

Ahhhh....

My feet feel great! I splurged yesterday and went to Famous Footwear. I had a coupon and they had a buy one, get one half off. So I bought myself a brown and black pair of clogs. I know it's spring but I have bad feet (inner metatarsal neuroma and plantar fascitis).

I tried on the cute little flats and my feet hung over the sides of most. I do have wide feet, but honestly those things are made for Cinderella!!!

Anyway, I bought two styles of Eurostep. One feels like I'm wearing slippers -SO comfy!! They're not beautiful but they make me happy. And please excuse the bad Palm photo taken from under my desk!

Misc. chatter...

I have a major sinus headache today. I can't stand this time of year for that reason. It feels like I have a vice grip on my head. Ugh....

Anyway, I'm heading to a friend's house tonight for some cardmaking. I have 3 overflowing bags in my car and I wonder if I've brought everything I need.

I hope I can get some things done. I tend to have ADD when I'm with someone else and trying to stamp. My friend likes to do 10 of one card, kind of like assembly line stamping. I'm the opposite. I'd rather spend the time on a few nice & different ones. Don't get me wrong, hers are nice but the same. I get bored easily.

If you are a stamper, what kind are you? Assembly line or one of a kind?

Green, green....

I just love the color green. I love olive, celery, lime, etc. I don't particularly like kelly green though. My bedroom is olive, my dining room is celery, you get the picture.

Did you wear green today? I did. It's a celery green sweater.

Kathy M
challenged us to post about color today. This is the only green thing I could find on my computer.

Thank you, thank you, thank you very much...

This is so not me. It's what we call a secret image challenge in my card group. Someone sends everyone an image and you figure out how to make it into a card and send it to your partner. This took me a bit. I painted the blue with Twinkling H2os. It's hard to see in the photo but the blue is really irridescent (sp?). Actually, if you double click you can see the sparkly effect.

Finally got it....

Got a call from my lss yesterday. They finally got the 6x6 acrylic block in. I requested it before Christmas! I'm so excited. I can finally use my 1/4 sun stamp. Or that's what it looks like to me anyway. If I double up and line up properly (obviously I didn't quite do it here), I could have a half sun. Well, I'm looking closer and it could be a sun dial?

I scored myself some Hero Arts paper flowers in different patterns and also some cute printed paper. Yeah, I know, I know...I already have a pile of it but I just couldn't resist the cute flowers/plaid/strips and circles (two doublesided sheets).

Another penguin....

Made this to thank my wonderful aunt for sending my boys cameras! I kind of wish the set had a mini skirt and bra to make it a lady penguin! LOL

I used SU Vintage Violet, Rose Red and Cool Caribbean. The penguin set is Memory Box and I used the K & Co. paper lace.

Friday's Feast One Hundred Eighty Three

Appetizer

On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 as highest), how much do you like your own handwriting? Probably about a 2. I really don't like it at all.

Soup

Do you prefer baths or showers? Showers -- I really don't like baths at all!

Salad

What was the last bad movie you watched? Pirates of the Caribbean III (way too weird for me)

Main Course

Name something you are addicted to and describe how it affects your life.

Well, about the only thing I'm addicted to is stamping/scrapping. I think that's a pretty good habit to have. It doesn't really affect my life other than I spend a lot of time in my craft room and I spend too much money on supplies.

Dessert

Which instrument is your favorite to listen to? I love guitar.

GREAT song...

I heard a song on the way in. I've heard it before and I love it but I thought it was Santana with someone else. I had to sit in the parking lot, even though I was a couple of minutes late. I had to hear who it was.

It was Style Council. Ok, I've never heard of them before and I know a LOT of artists. It's #5, My Ever Changing Moods. What a great song! I don't know how to do the cool thing with the video like Juls and others so I'll give you the amazon link. Some day I will learn how to be a real blogger! LOL

Whew...I'm tired...

I didn't get a good night's sleep. I was scrapbooking like crazy! LOL I don't know why this happens sometimes. I come up with some great layouts (only while sleeping) for pages and cards. I couldn't stop myself. I just kept going and going and going. I also woke up a few times hearing my husband's machine squeaking.

I've probably asked this before, but does this happen to you? Something you enjoy doing or that you are good at comes into your brain while dreaming? And I'm not saying I'm good at it, I just enjoy it.

I hope I can get some uninterrupted sleep tonight!

an Awwwww moment....

I just got an email from my cousin who said her daughter loved the card I sent (the engagement one I posted titled, A Toast to You. She loved the personalized card so much, she wants to make them for her bridesmaids. She is the sweetest girl you'd ever want to meet (and gorgeous to boot).

Anyway, I absolutely love to hear that I've inspired someone else to join my obsession!! LOL Mostly, I love the fact that she appreciated the work that went into her card. So sweet.

And just for yucks, I never posted this one. It's just a quick card to use up the scraps! I think I saw the idea in Paper Crafts magazine but now I forget.

A new cd....

I was so surprised when I got home the other day. I saw Sheryl Crow's new cd, Detours, on the counter. My dh knew I wanted it and bought it for me. I was a little surprised because he usually plans everything so a "on a whim" purchase isn't usually his style. I was pleasantly surprised! It's a decent cd. It'll take a few times for me to decide whether it's as good as the last. I do love Shine Over Babylon and Love is Free. There's one other but I don't remember the name. I thought it was #5. Anyway, the lyrics are very political.

Project complete...

Sorry for you SBA'ers - this is a repeat of a post. I finished the cutest little album from The Button Farm this weekend. I added two pages and it's really fat but cute.

Angela puts together the nicest kits! It was so easy that I feel guilty adding 17 to my page count for the year.

This photo should have "The Button Farm" over it but I'm not sure how to do that.

St. Patty's card

I made this for a green challenge for my card group. Then I decided I'd make another and send it to my very Irish friend.

I didn't have a shamrock or Leprechaun stamp so I had to make due with the froggy.

Another stamping friend gave me the shamrock paper so I think I'll do a layout of my oldest ds who is proud to say he's Irish! Just a note: My youngest says he's Italian. They do have the same two parents!! One looks Irish, the other Italian. LOL

Friday's Feast One Hundred Eighty Two

Appetizer

If you could be any current celebrity for one whole week, who would you want to be? I would love to be someone gorgeous like Charlize Theron or maybe Gisele Buunchen (sp?) because of who she is dating. ;-) Ok, I would pick George Clooney's gf but she's not really a celeb, is she?

Soup

On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being highest), how much do you enjoy talking on the phone? Ummmm...probably a 1. I hate talking on the phone.

Salad

Name a charitable organization to which you have donated (or would like to). We always give to the National Cancer Society and the Jimmy Fund.

Main Course

What is a food you like so much you could eat it every single day for a month? I love Mexican. Give me nachos every day and I'd be happy. But toss in a margarita with that and I'd be ecstatic!!

Dessert

Have you or anyone in your family had the flu this year? Knock on wood, I haven't. My dh has though.

How Lucky Are You?

Nothing new to blog about so I thought I'd do another bloggie quiz.

I don't consider myself to be a lucky person as far as lottery or any of that. I have been getting luckier as I get older as far as winning door prizes and little things. I mostly consider myself lucky in life. I'm just thankful to have healthy kids & dh (well, mostly), a nice home to live in, a job, etc.

So, how lucky are you?

** Edited: WOW! I didn't read the results of the quiz until I posted! LOL..That was SO true!

Your Luck Quotient: 62%

You have a high luck quotient.

More often than not, you've felt very lucky in your life.

You may be randomly lucky, but it's probably more than that.

Optimistic and open minded, you take advantage of all the luck that comes your way.

What punctuation mark are you?

Saw this on Stacy's blog at Exceedingly Mundane (not). Thanks, Stacy!

I have to say that a lot of this is not true. I'm more like Stacy (a colon). I am realistic, down to earth and honest though!

You Are a Dash

Your life is fast paced and varied. You are realistic, down to earth, and very honest.

You're often busy doing something interesting, and what you do changes quickly.

You have many facets to your personality, and you connect them together well.

You have a ton of interests. While some of them are a bit offbeat, they all tie together well.

You friends rely on you to bring novelty and excitement to their lives.

(And while you're the most interesting person they know, they can't help feeling like they don't know you well.)

You excel in: Anything to do with money

You get along best with: the Exclamation Point

Yuck...

That's all I can say about today's weather. I took a few photos for Barb-n-PA's challenge on SBA and I forgot my camera cord!

It was rainy and windy earlier but it seems to have slowed down to a miserable drizzle.

I can only imagine the flooding we'll have after the second band of rain. Our sump pump will be running constantly!!

The good news - it will go up to 51 degrees today! Yeah, I can take that!!

A couple more and a funny...

I forgot to post this door. It leads out to the back yard where we normally snowmobile from. The hot tub is completely covered - you cannot see it!!!!

Front corner of the house:

The funny - I've discovered my need to neaten things up is even evident on the snowmobile trail. As I was riding along, I was trying to smooth out the bumps with my machine. It was SO powdery and there was way too much snow so I had to do my part. LOL My son was doing the same thing!!

It was a good trip. The boys got more riding in than I did. My friend wanted to go back after a bit and the guys decided to go another way so I felt obligated to go back. Thank God I did! They came across a washed out area and had to go through mud and stuff. Our friend's sled got stuck and they had to pull it out. So I was happy I wasn't with them.

Not complaining any more...

Or at least I won't be complaining for a few days! I cannot believe the snow they had in Maine!!! I have never seen the snow banks that high. Our friends have been pummeled, one storm after another of a foot each!!

We couldn't even catch the snowmobile out the back because you couldn't get there without sinking.

Here are a few photos. They have a metal roof so the snow slides down and blocks the door and presses against the windows so they have to shovel a path around the house.

Looking out the front:

Looking out the back windows:

Their porch:

Some serious snowbanks (ds is almost 6 feet tall):

Saturday, March 01, 2008

Ah, the waiting is a killer....

We are waiting for the snow to stop and to hear from our friend as to whether or not we'll have a place to park if we head to Maine today. If not, we'll head up early a.m. I can't pack the food because I"m not sure if we'll need it yet. Our clothes are packed just in case.

Anyhoo, thought I'd post my cousin's bday card made with my WU Friendship blooms set and River Rock, Groovy Guava and Ruby Red SU paper, Groovy Guava ribbon. I used CTMH brad and buckle. I hate the fact that I always revert back to the same old card los!
