This is very hard to see. I lifted it from a SU catalog (older). All images/papers are SU. The inside says, "Hope you're back to your cool self soon".

I'm not nuts about this one. Got the paper from a friend who got it from a friend who is a Fossil rep. It was used for their displays. Anyway, I used an Amuse Stamp for the drink.

I just can't stop stamping!!!

This one was lifted (story of my life) from Paper Crafts. Theirs was an engagement card. I used SU "grateful" and DCWV printed card. Very easy.

This is a baby congrats. I used SU papers and Mike's $1 stamps. Another VERY easy.

Future vacation lo.....

I can see it now, "What I Ate on Vacation"!! This is all we've focused on. Today we cleaned out the basement because we had a realtor coming over to evaluate the house. So, after all that hard work, my dh took me to my favorite sub shop. It's a restaurant that's owned by someone I graduated with in my old hometown. He makes the BEST Italian subs...perfect roll, fresh salami, provalone, mortadella, chopped pickles, tomatoes, and the best ever hot pepper relish. YUM. I'm still stuffed.

So tomorrow we're off to Maine and I"m sure we'll have something good to eat. We're meeting with a possible future builder.

Thurs. my dh has an informal interview and then we'll head to the coast to get some fried clams, my favorite!

Maybe Fri. or during the weekend we'll go over to the other side of town to get a Kimball's ice cream. It's made at the farm and is so rich and creamy. They give you a huge portion but you have to wait in line! The pack as much as they can in one little dish. If I get my favorite, pistachio, it's totally loaded with pistachio nuts. Or the almond joy...packed with coconut and choc. covered almonds...Delish!

I don't know what else I have to get out of my system this week but I"m sure I'll come up with more.

I seriously need the SB diet on Monday. Oink out!!

Another vac day...

Went shopping for bookshelves for my sb room. They still don't have them. :-( Anyway, I ate my fav salad at Panera, the Fuji Apple Chicken. YUM!

We stopped and bought corn on the cob for tonight. It's band practice here so we usually make it an easy dinner.

Here are a couple more cards. I've been creating away!! And I'm more than 1/2 way through my book!

Lifted this from a Paper Craft magazine, I think! I'm trying to get rid of all of the ideas I ripped out of mags.

I made this for a bling swap. Somehow I feel like I already posted it though. My memory is toast! I used SU paisley background, Delight in Life flower and SU cs and HS bling (I think it was a prize from Kathy M).

Book update for Stacy...

Sorry, I forgot to mention which book I finished and which book I started. I finished Jonathan Kellerman's Therapy (Alex Delaware series). It was a good book. I always love a good murder mystery.

I just started Bad Business by Robert Parker. It's another murder mystery with a little bit of humor. No clue where I got it but it was in my huge pile of "to read" books. It's going pretty fast seeing that I'm on vacation. I've been reading a little during the day which helps a lot! Thanks for inspiring me to read more, Stacy!

A few cards...

Not a great day so I thought I'd just post a few cards instead of whining.

Can't seem to stop using that Junkitz Salsa paper!!

This was for my old boss & his wife on their first gchild. SU rattle, Bazzill cs.

Lifted the idea from Hero Arts website but had to substitute Technique Tuesday circles instead of Hero Arts. And the celebrate is a MIke's $1 stamp.

Update..

Yep, my dh has to have surgery on his knee on 8/3. Good thing he's unemployed...or not. He has something in the works with an informal interview on Thurs. Please keep your fingers crossed. We really need this to work out!!

My new boss has been really good. She's very cautious but is trusting me to do my job as I have been for over 5 yrs. It's not as bad as I thought it would be but I still miss my old boss. I'm dying to find out how high my inbox is on my desk when I get back. Ugh....one thing I hate about vacations!

We're heading up to Maine on Tues. but just for the day. We'll have to plan another day trip for Wed. or Fri. This will be a trip to the coast of MA or NH since I really want some fried clams! We are only about an hour from either coast. And about an hour from the mountains. I love where I live for this reason! (I hope I haven't already asked this!!).

QOTD: Do you like where you live and can you get to the ocean or a lake without much trouble? I lived in MI for about 18 mos. and seriously missed my ocean. I did enjoy the beautiful Lake Michigan while there though!

Vacation...

Yay! I'm on vacation. Feels weird with no place to go but it's nice just relaxing. I scrapped a page last night to bring me to a whopping 30 pgs. for the year (much less than last year at this time).

I'm going through old sb mags and giving them to my son's gf who is a scrapper. I need to clear out some of my huge piles of magazines!!

Gotta take my dh to the dr. for his knee and they'll decide if he needs surgery today. Also have to run to the post office to make a rak and hopefully pick up my SU order today (small, but at least I'm getting retired paper!!!).

Enjoy your day!

Good Morning!

Got off to a great start this a.m. I heard Eric Clapton's Change the World right before I got to work. I love having a great tune in my head for the day!

I'm excited. I have the rest of this week off and next! We don't have any plans other than Tues. going to Maine for the day to meet with a builder. This is just for info at this point. We'd need to downsize before we can build up there.

We may just do some day trips to the beach. I see a plate of fried clams in my future! LOL

Anyway, here's a lo I did last night of Maine. I had fun inking the letters with 4 Ranger Distress Inks. It's a horrible photo of me. I made a funny face because the rock was killing my butt!

Interesting day....

It's the first day of my new boss. I have to prove myself all over again. I have been working with the same man for 5 yrs. and he's moved up. They say it's temporary but I have my doubts. I'm very happy for him but not for me. It's not that I don't like my new boss, I really do. It's just that her mgmt. style is the opposite of my old boss. I will be micromanaged hopefully only for a while. I'm so used to telling my old boss what is going on with budget, payroll, etc. instead of having to print and analyze budgets to share with my new boss.

I was asked what my functions are and are not. I really have to think about the things I do. I do them automatically and some are seasonal so it's hard to remember everything.

So today is the day our new leader will be here. I guess it's the changing of the guard all around. Everyone is moving up, around and out!! I already miss my old boss.

I've been tagged by Jodi

Here is how to play:

If you had the opportunity to do a 1-year internship in a company or field completely unrelated to your current career or specialty, what would be your top 5 choices?

My choices:

* An owner of a LSS
* A travel critic
* A designer on HGTV (so I can learn how to do it!!)
* A co-editor on Creating Keepsakes, just to get some ideas from some awesome
scrapbook ladies(copied Jodi's here)
* A personal assistant to a celebrity

So what are your 5 alternate careers?
I tag Stacy and Diana.

Friday's Feast One Hundred Fifty

Appetizer
How many pieces of jewelry do you wear most days? Hmmm...Probably four to 5 - two earrings, a bracelet and a necklace usually. If I remember and my hand isn't broken out, I wear my wedding ring too.

Soup
What is your favorite instrumental song? I believe it's called Samba Pa Ti by Santana. There are two songs that sound alike (I think the other is Europa). My all time favorite.

Salad
Who has a last name that you like? I like anything easy. I grew up with a tough one and thought I had it easier when I got married. No one can spell my husbands last name. I'd like Adams or Roberts (like Julia ;-) I'm tired of spelling mine.

Main Course
Name a popular movie you’ve never seen. I could have a page of them here. I don't go to the theatre. I am not a movie person. When I'm sick, I watch one on On Demand or HBO. Ok, Happy Feet would be one that comes to mind right now. I'd like to see it someday!

Dessert
Fill in the blank: Nothing makes me ___________ like ____________. Happy like Stamping. Or sleepy like reading.

made a few more simple cards...

Made this one for my niece's daughter who is 10. I am trying to use my stash. This is one of those DCWV cards that I've had sitting around. It worked! I've had the ice cream cone stamp for at least a year or two, never used it.

This one is really blurry! Sorry. I made it for my niece who loves red. Love that Junkitz Salsa paper!!

A few cards....

I was so busy at work today, I had no time to breathe in the afternoon. Came home and decided to make some cards to relieve stress tonight. I used a SCS sketch for both.

This is for my great niece's birthday. The bug is SU, card by Memory Box, sentiment is a Studio G from Mike's.

This was an effort to make one for my All About the Bling swap. It didn't make first place. It's hard to see the shimmery chalk on the flower in the photo. It's a Hero Art stamp and the middle has a few blings. The sentiment is SU.

Nothing crafty to post...

I had a great mail/free gift day though! Got my package from Kimi in MD with ribbon swap & card-lift swap items. I got some really cute cards and gorgeous ribbons! I was so happy with the teal ribbon because I have a hard time finding teals and it's my favorite color. These are two swaps I was NOT disappointed in!

I made a quick graduation card and futzed around with some swap cards (putting a few insides & sentiments on). I'm giving these to a friend at work who gives me great salon products for free!! Her dh is a salesman & gets lots of samples. So she brought me root lift spray, hair spray and shampoo - a very upscale name that I won't mention in case someone is looking! LOL As if someone would be on MY blog!! hehe It's actually Goldwell. Nice products!! Anyway, I want to give her some cards since she's one that buys sets from me for gifts.

My question is, do you use salon products or regular products from your pharmacy or retail store? I used to buy salon products but use cheap shampoos in between. I love Redken 10 guts and 18 hairspray but now that I have the Goldwell products, I use these instead.

I have a few cheap shampoos that I buy - Fructis and Pantene. When my cousin is going to the beauty supply, she gets me Biolage (my fav). I wash my hair daily and don't condition (too greasy). So I typically switch off between the good and the good cheap. What do you do?

Weekend update...

Friday night we did our usual exciting activity - food shopping. Sat. I went to ACM for their Make & Take day. I just wanted to see what they had and have an excuse for spending just a tad since I sold some things.

Well, I made a cute card using the Cuttlebug and another using the Cricut and the Fastenator. I may have to get one of those.

So anyway, I put my name in for the drawing and heard them call out while I was shopping. I was waiting patiently for the second name and it was a Linda something. So I finished up shopping and went home. My phone rang and I looked at the caller id and almost didn't pick up. It said Moore but I couldn't see the rest. Then it dawned on me! So anyway, I won a Ez Lock caddy. It's basically about 4 or 6 of the plastic divided trays that fit in a black case. It's very nice but I'm not sure if I'll use it. It was fun to win though!!

Sunday went to a baby shower for my dh's cousin and saw his family. It was very nice but I didn't behave food-wise....

Maine lo...

I don't usually blog on Sundays but thought I'd post my so-so lo of Maine since I asked for suggestions. It's not artsy and not publish-worthy but it's done (other than the journaling in the green box. I used distressed rub ons (K& Co. I think), Junkitz transparency letters, a foam stamp for the fern. TFL!

TGIF...

I'm feeling like a flunky at the moment. It's been crazy here and I messed up an appt. Grr....no excuse, I just messed up.

Ok, as I was driving in this a.m. I saw a bunch of people holding signs for an election. They were waving at the traffic and some people were waving back, others ignoring them.

So my random question for the day is, do you wave back when you see this? Or when you see a live advertisement for Quiznos or something like it? I typically ignore them. I get annoyed with the political signs because I don't really care who they want me to vote for. I feel bad for the teenager holding the Quiznos (only one I can think of at the moment) sign. So what do you do?

p.s. On a positive note, I did scrap a page last night! Not done yet, but almost.

How to embellish without using flowers...

I scrapped again last night. I didn't complete the 2 pg. lo but it's all adhered down. I just need to embellish. It's titled "Maine...the way life should be" as their state motto signs read. I just don't know what to embellish with. It sounds like a strange combo but the paper is a beautiful sky blue and the other papers are gray (pulled that out from the dock photos & lots of rocks) and olive green (for the mountains that surround the lake & the green grass). I don't want to use flowers here. I'm actually getting sick of using flowers on every lo. I thought about leaves but they need to be green because it was summer, not fall. Any suggestions? I forgot to take a photo.

What Color is Your Brain?

Got this from Diana's (Msherrera) blog and it's really true!

Your Brain is Blue

Of all the brain types, yours is the most mellow.
You tend to be in a meditative state most of the time. You don't try to think away your troubles.
Your thoughts are realistic, fresh, and honest. You truly see things as how they are.

You tend to spend a lot of time thinking about your friends, your surroundings, and your life.

Before I get busy...

Just wanted to post a quick & simple card I made for my brother's bday. I had to get it in today's mail. He's a manly Harley-ish kind of guy so I had to make it dark! LOL

Tuesday, June 19, 2007

what a day!

No time for fun. I'm heading home in a minute & hope to make a few birthday cards tonight. My brother's is Friday.

I also hope to get a lo done. I have some pretty Maine photos on some beautiful sky blue Bazzill paper, just sitting there waiting to be scrapped! More later!

Monday, June 18, 2007

I did it!! I finally scrapped.

I don't think I'll post the lo though. It has a full frontal view of my house and my address is on one of the journal spots. Anyway, here are two Father's Day cards I made before that. The Happy Father's Day didn't show up as much as I thought in the blue card. I stamped in white craft and embossed with clear but it sort of disappeared on me as it heated up!

Feast One Hundred & Forty Eight

Appetizer
Fill in the blank: The best thing about where I live is the four seasons and gorgeous coastal towns and beaches!

Soup
Create a new name for a deodorant: Phresh & Phree.

Salad
What was the last piece of software you installed onto your computer? I didn't. I always leave that up to a technie neighbor for home and a techie at work.

Main Course
If you were to receive a superlative award today beginning with the words ”Most likely to…”, what would the rest of the phrase say? Most likely to bust out laughing if someone falls. (I cannot help myself).

Dessert
What two colors do you like to wear together? I love the color teal, light or dark, with black. Who doesn't love black anyway?!!

Today is better....

Until they get back from the retreat!!! It's very quiet here now and, as you can see, I"m hard at work! LOL I'm just cringing about when they return in the afternoon.

Anyway, I forgot to photo the father's day card I made for dh. I have to make another from me. Question: Do you give your dh a card from you and a card from the kids (if any)? I always do.

Thursday, June 14, 2007

I need a vacation!!

It's crazy here at work. NO time for fun. I've been putting fires out all day. I hope it ends soon! Not likely though. :-(

I also need some home alone time and that won't happen any time soon. Since dh is unemployed, I get bombarded as soon as I walk in the door. He must be lonely during the day. He's keeping busy but this man can talk. As a matter of fact, he doesn't know how to stop. LOL So he's very demanding of my time when I get home and I finally sit down to create and my cell rings. It's my ds wanting a ride home. Ugh....I need to do something about this but I'm not sure what.

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

Ok, I just cannot get my real mojo back....

I try and try and it's too much work! I think I'm going to have to do some challenges with color and or sketches. Here are two just ok cards I made because the birthdays are coming up. I used Junkitz Salsa papers and transparency ribbons.

Quick blurb about Toys R Us outcome...

They were wonderful! I called the XXXX, NH store and they said to bring my receipt in, no problem. So I called back because that store wasn't close to me. I asked if I could bring it to the NH store near my house and they said sure. They called the store ahead of time, I went in and got my credit. Fantastic!!

Well, at least I tried!!

My son and his gf gave my mom this adorable card that her mom made. I tried to lift the idea as best as I could with what I had. NO, it's not even close. Brenda's is so cute! I need to find that stamp.

and here's mine.

Monday, June 11, 2007

Hmm....

A few things...the party went ok. My BIL did not even come down from the deck to say hello or to do the cake thing with his grandkids. I'm not sure if it was just because we were there or what. Anyway, it was good to see SIL, nieces, nephew and great nephews. One of them looks just like my 17 yo when he was that age, a little blondie with a crew cut!

I got ripped off yesterday and I"m going to try and correct it today but have no hope. I was at Toys R Us to buy the boys gifts, got two of the same thing. It rang up a lot higher than I expected but I didn't pay much attention, swiped my credit card and went out to the car to wrap. So it was bugging me when I got home. I checked my receipt and I was charged for three of this item. Ugh....why didn't I pay attention at the register?!! So I'm going to call the mgr. to see if they can verify it by checking their inventory. It's not close to my house so to go back up there is a major hassle. More later.

I forgot to say while waiting for my dh at band practice, I headed to a BIG AC Moore. I didn't have much to spend so I chose carefully. I got some Junkitz transparency ribbons and Heidi S. journal spots in ledger. Had my fix for a while!

Busy bee...

I was so busy at work yesterday between my current boss moving up to his new position and my new boss coming in, all while our fiscal year end is happening (and our summer semester), I'm going nuts! So...no blogging time for me. I even skipped the Friday Feast.

Had my boys here for dinner for my mom's bday and we had to cook in rather than out. It was raining pretty much all day. We had delicious steak tips, chicken kebobs, shrimp kebabs, rice pilaf and a delicious cake made with ice cream sandwiches (in Kraft magazine this month). I even had a piece, went off the diet for a bit.

Tomorrow will be difficult. We're going to a kiddie bday party at my BIL's. He and my dh haven't spoken since about 2 yrs. ago after their mom passed away. He wants to go because he doesn't think it's fair to punish our niece and her kids. It'll be very uncomfortable, I'm sure. Can't wait until it's over.

I hope I have some play time tomorrow night. I'm having withdrawals....more later.

Thursday, June 07, 2007

QOTD.....

I feel like I'm copying Stacy here but I just had to ask a question....

This morning, I tried to take a self portrait so I could email my best friend in GA a photo of my new haircut. When I look at the outcome, I nearly die. Do I REALLY look this way? If so, I seriously need a facelift and complete makeover.

So...do you think you look like your photos? Or do you always hate them? Some people are just photogenic and some are not.

I wonder how you find out what you actually look like?!! LOL I hope the camera is wrong. :-(

What a day off.....

I got a comp day for working Sun. So...I got up early, got my son off to school, waited for the carpet people, did laundry, showered, went over the bill situation with dh, read People mag while waiting for the carpet installer to finish.

Went for a ride with dh to: post office, by a few condos/houses he's interested in downsizing to (:-( , went up north to a few stores. Bought new comforter for my ds' room and he likes it!!! Also found an area rug for the kitchen breakfast nook area (thanks to Maia!!!). Ran home and cooked dinner, then tried to put ds' room back together. Didn't quite get it all done and had to run and pick him up. He semi-liked it but wants to make some "minor adjustments". I'm afraid of what that might be!

I guess I'll get back to unpacking things and making his bed tonight.

Monday, June 04, 2007

No rest for the weary...

Fri. night went food shopping - VERY exciting! ;-) Sat. cleaned a little and helped dh with the boys rooms. Sun. worked at Commencement from 10-1:00 and went home and ripped through my youngest's room.

We are trying to get ready for carpet installation tomorrow. What a mess. I dusted and packed away a ton of crap from his desk & night stand. It's amazing what ridiculous things they save! I found a couple of VW decals that must have fallen off cars (he wants a Golf when and if he ever saves up for a car). I can't even remember the other stupid things I found. He gets so upset with us trying to take things away from him so I don't want to upset the apple cart UNTIL I talk him into setting his room up our way. We want it to look as big as possible when we put it on the market. It's a nice sized room but will look little with all of his chairs, couch type thing his friends sleep on, stereo, tv, desk, etc. So....I did toss a couple of things I didn't think he'd notice and also put a few in the attic, hoping he doesn't remember.

So last night I went into my room and tried to make some cards. I don't know what's wrong with my mojo but I cannot create lately. It takes all I have to get some card done that I'm not crazy over. Oh well...

Here are two I'm not very proud of but had nothing else to post! One is for my niece who just got engaged and the other is for a three year old boy's bday.

Card to share...

Here's a card I made for a graduation congrats for our terrific TA. She is the BEST!

I used: SU Delight in Life & papers & inks in cool caribbean and ballet blue
CTMH sentiment (forget the name of the set) & those fibers
and Stickles (my fav!) forget which color I used but it's not diamond

A letdown, I'm sure...

Ok, the big secret didn't have anything exciting in it for anyone but me. My aunt was promoted to 2nd in command here and my boss is third. Both are labeled as interim but who knows what will happen in 6 mos. I'm staying where I am for now. I'm kind of feeling left out, LOL. I guess I should be happy I have a job.

The only reason it was such a big thing is that I had to keep it from everyone here, including the people I work closely with. More changes will follow next week. Shhh...! hehe

I'm about to burst....

Tomorrow is the day the major announcement will be made at work. I am dying with anticipation!!! I cannot wait until it happens and then I won't be so jumpy!!

I also wanted to share a card I made for a fellow SBA'er who is sick. As always, the photo is blurry. Do you see why I don't participate in photo challenges very much?!!

Card to share...

I made this a while ago at a class but felt the need to add the circle clip. I just love those things!

My aunt LOVES daisies so I sent it for her bday.

Songs...

Do you ever have a great radio day? I left the house in a not so great mood. I'm worried about my son, worried about my husband finding a job, etc. So I got in the car and the BEST songs came on and just made my day.

Can't remember the order or the names but first I heard "See the World" by Gomez and love that tune!! Then I heard Sheryl Crow, Midnight Oil (Beds are Burning), Alanis M."You Live, You Learn", Vertical Horizon (another group I love). I can't remember the others but I didn't even have to change the station. I do this frequently by the way. If I don't like a song or if they talk, I switch. Are you a switcher or do you just deal with the horrible song?

Slump..

I'm in a real blog slump. Don't know why but I can't come up with something nice to blog about. I think I took some photos of recently made cards but I keep forgetting to bring them in to upload.

It seems I'm not the only one because I keep going through the SBA blog ring and there are quite a few not updated.

Ok, here's something to share: I finished "Plum Lovin". It was ok but not very deep. This was my first Evanovich book. I think for now I'll stick with my normal type books.

I just started Therapy by Jonathan Kellerman. I've read several of his Alex Delaware series books and liked them. This one is pretty good so far. What are you currently reading?

Friday's Feast One Hundred Forty Four

Appetizer
List 3 emotions you experienced this week. Fear (I thought there was going to be a war at home after my dh cleaned my ds' room), depression (no spending), happiness (opened a great big box of jewelry).

Soup
Name a car you’d love to have. A cute little convertible something would be nice. I saw an adorable Porsche yesterday.

Salad
Describe your typical morning routine. Wake up at 6, make the coffee & take vitamins, go back upstairs and shower. Wake ds up first time. Get a cup of coffee. Put makeup on and wake ds up second time. Blow dry hair, get dressed, see if ds is up. Make salad & grab food items for work. Leave between 7:30 and 8 a.m. & drive to work.

Main Course
Have you ever emailed someone famous? If so, who, and what did you say to them? Did they reply? No, I don't think so?

Dessert
Do you listen to podcasts? If so, which ones? Nope. Wouldn't have a clue. They do this in work all the time, I know I should know!!

Ah...the weekend is finally here.

It's been a long week. I'm so happy the weekend is here. Tonight I have a Lia S. party at my friend's house. It'll be fun even though I can't spend much. Love my "girl" time.

I got home last night to a big box full of jewelry. I had so much fun sorting it while I was watching Grey's. I had to peek at what everyone bought! I got a lot of really nice jewelry for free. Gotta love it. I realized I have to buy some green tops. Every necklace I picked has some shade of green (on the lighter side - celadon-ish).

Question for the day: What color do you look best in? Do you constantly buy the same color?

My best color is in the green family. I love celery, lime, celadon, teal (is this a green?) I also look best in light blue.

My closet is full of gray and black with a few hints of lime, plum, lavender, light blue, light green. I tend to wear the dark colors to cover up the weight. Every time I wear a green or blue, people compliment me. That's because I look pale in black/gray.

As I'm typing along here, I'm wondering...did I already ask this question in a previous post?!! Ah, to have a memory again.

If you don't have anything nice to say....

Don't say anything at all. This is what my mom used to tell me when I was younger but I just can't resist.

Do people actually THINK when they buy Mother's Day gifts? My stepsister bought my mom a hanging plant (outdoor). My brother bought my mom a mum plant. What irritates the crap out of me is that she lives with ME. They both know this. So now is it MY responsibility to plant the mums and hang the plant on the porch I don't have? What were they thinking (if they were in fact thinking)?! I hate gardening and do not want to deal with it.

She said she could just dig a hole and put the mums around the rocks where we already have some. I told her not to. There was a pattern to how my dh planted the ones we wanted and bought. So they're in her room for now. She left the hanging plant on the bricks we have out front!!!

Am I being ridiculous here? I'm sure I am but I just can't help myself.

I have to end on a positive note here! I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day.

update

I had a successful Lia party. Got lots of free stuff but I also had to spend a little.

DH is still feeling lousy. I seriously think he has pneumonia. He was told brochitis and was given 3 prescrips. If it's not gone by MOn. he has to have an xray for pneumonia. What a rotten birthday weekend.

My oldest is coming over tomorrow night for dinner so we can all cookout & have ice cream cake. Unfortunately he has to work until 6-ish so it'll be late.

Happy Mother's Day everyone!!

update!

I totally forgot something positive to add....

My mom is going to my younger brother's for mother's day!!! Still not sure what we're doing but I know I won't have to cook and wait on someone else! YEAH!!

Now if I could figure out what to do for my dh's 50th...

Much ado about nothing...

I'm sitting waiting for my huge crowd to come upstairs to our offices. We are having an awards ceremony and the presentation is downstairs and then they come up for dinner. We have tables scattered throughout the floor. This is one of our major functions for the year. Next I work on the rest of Commencement.

Anyway, I already went out to steal a cookie to tide me over. It was so busy today, I couldn't get online much so I thought I'd update now. I have to work til around 8 tonight and I was here at 8 this morning!!

Tomorrow I have the day off so that I can clean and bake to get ready for the lia sophia party (I think I already said that but can't remember). I'm exhausted. DH has had an awful flu and up coughing all night, shivers, fever, etc. I got part of it. My eyes sting, I feel like I have a major hangover and my mouth is metallic tasting. NO energy here so a long day is killing me.

I wish I had known my husband was being laid off before I scheduled this party!!

Well, I guess I'll catch up tomorrow or Fri. when I'm back at work!

A couple of cards.....

Most images are Stampin' Up Decorative Daisy. Not sure what the teal one is called but it was a cute set.

Monday, May 07, 2007

Love these things when I don't feel like blogging.

You Are a Daisy

You see the world with an artist's eye.
Finding beauty is easy for you - even in the dullest of moments.
You notice all of the colors of the world, from fresh grass to sunsets.
You are a total optimist and hedonist. You love to drink life in.

I'm in no mood to blog...

So I'm just going to say a quick Happy Cinco de Mayo and NSD for you scrappers out there. I'm seriously hoping to participate for a little bit in the cybercrop at www.scrapbookaddict.com (a place I cannot skip going to even for a day).

Update

Ok, got another Mom's Day card finished last night and one of my dh's bday. I still have to make a few Mom's day and one bday card from me.

I feel like a taxi lately! Got home from work, ds asked me to take him to Dunks for an iced coffee, got home, his friend arrived and he asked me to take them to a friend's house. Got home @ 7, ate a quick dinner, made my cards and ran back out at 9 to get him. It's every day.

So that brings me to my question of the day. Do you drive the speed limit or are you a lead foot like me? I zoom around, especially if I'm by myself. I'm a very impatient person when it comes to getting there. I get very frustrated when my ds drives. He has to go the speed limit. He just has his permit.

Mom's Day

Yay! Got a couple of mom's day cards done last night. I need to make about six of them between Godmom's & a Nana one for my mom so I'm happy a few are completed. I also have to make my hubby's 50th, yes, 50th! That seems so old to me! I'm only two and a half years away!

What do you do for Mom's day if you are a mom? If you are not a mom, do you see your mom?

Here's my dilemma...I always end up cooking!! My mom has always come to my house for dinner on Mother's Day. Now that she lives with me, I still have her for Mother's day. I guess I feel a little put out since I hate to cook and I don't feel I should be waiting on anyone on Mother's Day. The other issue is my hubby's bday is always Mother's Day weekend. So we combine the celebrations and I still get to cook!! Am I being selfish here? If we go out, we'll end up spending a fortune because we'll end up paying for my mom, my two sons & one gf and ourselves.

I know I'm sounding a little selfish here. I just wish my brother would step up to the plate. I think my younger one had her up last year for lunch. I'm the one providing the home for her, shouldn't they give ME a break on Mom's Day?! Ok, I've complained enough for one day. And maybe I spoke too soon (fingers crossed).

Trip to Maine...Ah yuh!!

Well, we headed to Maine in the rain as always. And would you believe our land is still there?! LOL My hubby likes to take a ride up to see what "the property" (as he refers to it) looks like during different seasons. He just wants to be sure there's no standing water, what the view is without leaves, etc. before we build.

When he calls it "the property" it cracks me up. It sounds like a big mansion or something.

Would you believe there was snow on the ground in ME? We took a few photos of our beach and the surrounding area just to show the snow. It's almost May!! Weird, huh?

We had a nice dinner at the Black Horse Tavern in Bridgton, ME on the way home. Ate too much and blew the diet. We drove back in the pouring rain. I kept nodding off. Can't help myself. I get lulled to sleep in a car even if I'm not tired.

Question for you - do you sleep on a long ride? Do you read? I can't read. I get carsick if I so much as look at a map.

Feast One Hundred & Forty One

Appetizer
How fast can you type? Pretty fast - probably about 95-100 wpm.

Soup
What is your favorite online game? I don't play online games. I have too many things to look at online like scrapping & stamping sites!!

Salad
On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 as highest), how intelligent do you think you are? Oooh, not sure about a 6 or 7.

Main Course
Name three of your best teachers from your school years. Oh, no names here -- I will tell you I had a history teacher (not my forte) that I had a crush on. He tried so hard to help me pass. I just barely made it. I also had a great Spanish teacher, Mr. Gonzalez. He drove me nuts but I learned a lot from him about the culture. I also had a great Business Practices (?) teacher, Miss Luongo. I forget the name of the class but it was great because I went straight into the business world from high school and she prepared me for that. It was kind of a mix of accounting, business letter writing, etc.

Dessert
What are your plans for this upcoming weekend? Probably head to Maine as mentioned in my prev. post. It's a three hour ride for us. My dh misses his land! I think that's where he feels the happiest.

Aaaah....almost the weekend

No bosses here today - yay!!!! That makes ME the boss.

I'm so glad the weekend is here. It's rainy out and not a great day for Spring Carnival so I'm glad I'm not going!

Not sure what the plan is yet for the weekend. Tomorrow a.m. I have a dance recital to go to and then we may head to Maine for the day. We want to visit our land (dh does) and our friend who had knee replacement surgery but we really don't want to stay. This makes it easier with my 17 y.o. too. I hate worrying about him while I'm away.

I'm hoping to get to my sb room on Sun. I have swap cards to finish and lo's to do.
I'm also hoping to get some pictures hung and the house a little more in order for my upcoming jewelry party.

Thought I'd share something creative. My best friend made this cool mailbox for me. I keep it on the top of my armoire. I filled it with chipboard letters yesterday but couldn't shut it. I'll have to figure out something else to store.

Rug, rug, can't find the rug!

I have searched and searched for area rugs as I posted before. I cannot come up with a kitchen rug. I just want a simple sisal or grassy-type rug with a reddish rust or goldish border. Found a few in the Pottery Barn catalog and they were pretty reasonable but the size isn't quite right and I"m not sure if they'll be rough on bare feet. They don't have them in the stores for me to check out. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried Home Depot, Lowe's, JCP. I need at least a 5x8 but would prefer a 6x8 which is probably nonexistent.

Here's the dining room rug.

A few cards...

I got stuck on this design for a few because I had to make some quick ones. I used SU Big Blossom & Paisley background on one. The ink is Apricot Appeal on whisper white cs. I'm not sure of the orange cs but it's SU. The red is real red by SU. Can't remember who made the HB stamp.

Boring blog....

Sorry I haven't had any photos to post lately. I just can't seem to get to it all! I took a photo of the cards I made at a CTMH workshop but forgot to bring in the card to upload.

Yesterday my son got his cast off. Yay! He's too funny. I thought I'd let him go in by himself because I want him to grow up. He is 17. And honestly, I didn't want to smell the horrible smell! LOL So he came walking out with the cast in his hand. I asked what the heck he wanted that for and he said he was keeping it. He said, "don't worry, mom, I took ripped out all the smelly stuff inside!" Eeeeewwww! I guess he wanted it because it had some cool graffiti on it?! He's still my little boy at heart!

So I got home early and it was beautiful out so I took a long walk. I was sweating half to death when I got home but it felt great. The podiatrist just gave me the go ahead last week to resume exercising. My foot wasn't great when I was done but I'm going to go for it anyway. My waist line is expanding rapidly!!!

I didn't do a whole lot in my sb room. I did cut most of the pieces for my card swap with Kimi though.

Got to get to work. Later!

Last night...

It was a fun class last night. Made two very cute cards! I learned a little about TAC and I'm going to get a catalog soon. I'm afraid of that! Just what I need is another place to spend money!!

I have the Silpada party tonight but I'm exhausted already. My son got home around 11:40 (vacation this week) and I got up at 6:15, later than usual. I'm going to be dragging later!

Just a quick question for you. As I was driving in this morning, I was thinking that I should scrap a page on notes in my BOM, if I ever get to it! LOL I am the note queen! Every day, I reach down for my handy little note pad in the car. I cannot live without one of these!! I write some kryptic note to remind me of things I need to check on at work. Sometimes it's a list of what I need to pick up on my lunch hour or my way home. So....do you have a little notebook or a pack of post-it notes in your car?

Updates.

I had Mon. off for the holiday and was ready to get dressed on Tues. when someone called to say the univ. was closed due to flooded streets. YAY!

I ended up going to the DMV for my mom, Circuit City with my son's laptop, Mike's and my lss.

Then I got home and went through emails and stuff. I finally sat down and scrapped. YOu know those lo's that you just sit and stare at and nothing seems to work? Well, that was it. One lonely page that should have been easy. None of my papers or embellishments seemed to work. I finally ended up using rubons for my title and stamping some borders with my new Penny Black Foliage stamp. It's ok, not great, but it's done.

Then I played around making some cards for my swap. THAT was fun! Can't wait to see them all.

I have to leave at 2 today to take my son to the dentist for a filling. Then I'm going to a CTMH workshop tonight and a Silpada tomorrow night.

Sunday, April 15, 2007

What a fun day yesterday!

First I went to the new scrapbook store with my mom. We bought a few things & did make & takes.

Then I went home to get ready for my Tim Holtz class at Ink About It. I got a call from the sb store and I won a door prize.

So I went to my class which was great! Tim was so down to earth and friendly. He made us think outside the box. I'm so not a collage type person but it was fun anyway. We had to pick a Victoria little kid and cut some words out of old books to come up with a poem. I'm not so great at that but I did ok. The project we made was great! We got a nice prize of cute little bottles of ? dont' remember what it's called but I was lucky enough to get sepia and crackle!

Here's my project and a blurry photo with Tim.

Clean scrap space....

I felt so good after cleaning up all the little lose ends on my desk area the other night. I just had to take a picture. I also took a photo of the wall that's blank until I get off my butt and order my bookshelf. This will have storage below so I can tuck all my junk into hiding. And my paper can come off the floor. It's amazing how red my paint looks in photos. It's really much nicer than this!

Can't wait for the weekend....

Ok, tonight we'll probably do our usual boring food shopping. I mean, who food shops on a Friday night?!! It seems to work for us but it's pretty pathetic.

Sat. night I have a Tim Holtz class. I'm so excited!! I hope I can think outside the box and create something funky. It's a mystery class so I have no idea what we'lll be doing. I'm much better doing a project assigned to me rather than getting free reign to create something cool. I'm a little nervous. I know two others who will be there. I met them through a friend so I don't know them well but enough so I feel ok about it. I don't usually mind going by myself anyway.

So, here are a couple of the cards I made yesterday (the ufo's). Very simple as always! And the pictures aren't great. One is blurry. I'll post the cleaned up sb armoire soon and the blank wall that will be filled if I ever order my bookshelf/storage unit.

Caught up!

Oh I feel so good! I caught up on a couple of cards and could not stand looking at the pile of UFO cards sitting on my scrap desk. So....I pushed myself to finish them. I must have done at least 4. Then I cleaned up my area so you can see the desk top. I took a photo of a couple of the cards, brought the card in but forgot to bring the reader in. Oh well...

Now I feel like I may be able to scrap either tonight or tomorrow night. Yippeeee!

p.s. I got a clean bill of health from the skin dr.!!!! NO removals this time.

Another thing that makes me happy...

Is when you're expecting to pay several thousand in taxes and you're getting it back instead!!!!! Woooooohoooo! We had great news yesterday.

I have to go to the dermatologist today for my annual skin check. Think positive thoughts for me, please! I've had to have something removed the last two times. I hate when he looks at me with that huge magnifying glass. I would not want to see that view! LOL It does get me out of work early and it's going to be warmer today.

Tomorrow we will get snow again. When is it going to go away for good?! I'm sick to death of it. I'm happy for the ski areas though. They're making up for a slow start to winter.

I'm hoping to scrap soon. I finished my swap cards and I'm set for April birthdays. I do have a ton coming up in May though! I'm going to have to do that deal thing again - make a few cards and you HAVE to scrap a page or two. I'm almost to the point where I really want to scrap now anyway! Later!!

What makes me happy...

Susan (Hoppy) posted this on SBA. The first two things that come to mind are my boys. They don't always make me happy because they are 17 & 21. But I love how they are so sweet sometimes. My family commented on Easter after they left how sweet they are and how good it was to see them. Made me smile. Love my boys!!

The other thing that makes me very happy is my creative outlets. I'm so excited that I'm taking a Tim Holtz class this weekend! I love the fact that my card was posted on the front page of a swap board (of course, it's probably just because I'm the newbie but it made me feel good anyway). I just love my stamping/scrapping hobbies. They make me happy!

What makes you happy? Feel free to comment!!

Bad week diet wise....

Oh boy, I was going to be good. That didn't happen. I ate candy, chips, etc. My waist is hanging over my pants. Ugh.....I have no idea what to wear for Easter. I really want to wear jeans with a cute top but my bulge will be showing if I do.

It's supposed to be cold out so that may help hide some of this flab. I seriously need to do something very soon.

My cousin is now talking about agreeing to go on a cruise with us in June. First they said April but I don't think we can do it that fast.

She is one of those people who always looks fantastic. She works out an hour a day or more, she tans, bleaches her teeth, gets manicures weekly, you get the picture. I"m going to have a hard time sitting on a chaise next to her!! If I get the ok from the foot dr., I can start walking again and that will help tremendously.

Anyway, I updated because Kathy M pushed me into it (thanks, Kathy). I really needed to anyway.

I have several cards to hurry up and make. Tomorrow I'm food shopping, making my apps for Sunday and cleaning. We are going to my aunt's house for a fun family day. My cousins, aunts & uncles are all so much fun. I can't wait to see everyone!

Hope all of you have a Happy Easter! Don't eat too many jelly beans!!

Oh boy, am I old!!

My son is 21 years old today. I feel ancient. I keep thinking back to the day he was born. I called him right at his birth time and felt like Billy Crystal's mom on City Slickers. She calls him every year at his birth time and he knows exactly what she'll say. hehe I hope I don't get like that.

I'm so looking forward to the weekend. I really need to get caught up. I made one Easter card last night and sent that off but I need several more. I also have two card swaps to make cards for!

I took Monday off so maybe that'll help me get caught up with cleaning. I did make two appts. though, one for guidance at my son's school (college info) and the other for another crown! Oh joy.

Just another day....

Ok, last night we celebrated my son's 21st bday. I feel old. And I was bad with the ice cream cake!

My dh got La Machine for his sleep apnea and it's definitely quieter than I expected. I thought it would be keeping me up. I was so exhausted from waiting around at the dr. and then hospital yesterday (other ds broke his wrist), I just zonked after a bit.

So....I'm hoping things slow down a bit and I can relax and unwind this weekend. I need to create!!!!!!!!!!!

Weekend update...

I've been a bad blogger lately! Life has been somewhat chaotic.

Fri. had my carpet installed, got a cortizone shot in my foot, did food shopping, packed and went to a Lia S. jewelry party. The party was fun, my friend had a ton of food and people! I ended up booking a party for May.

Stamp Camp was fun but not that productive. I was almost home when my dh called to say my son hurt himself and he was taking him to the ER. He was skateboarding and fell. We spent 3 hrs. there. He fractured his wrist and tore the ligament so we're seeing a specialist today. He's an accident waiting to happen!!

Anyway, back to work so that I can leave early.
