I've been tagged by Jodi

Here is how to play:

If you had the opportunity to do a 1-year internship in a company or field completely unrelated to your current career or specialty, what would be your top 5 choices?

My choices:

* An owner of a LSS
* A travel critic
* A designer on HGTV (so I can learn how to do it!!)
* A co-editor on Creating Keepsakes, just to get some ideas from some awesome
scrapbook ladies(copied Jodi's here)
* A personal assistant to a celebrity

So what are your 5 alternate careers?
I tag Stacy and Diana.

Friday's Feast One Hundred Fifty

Appetizer
How many pieces of jewelry do you wear most days? Hmmm...Probably four to 5 - two earrings, a bracelet and a necklace usually. If I remember and my hand isn't broken out, I wear my wedding ring too.

Soup
What is your favorite instrumental song? I believe it's called Samba Pa Ti by Santana. There are two songs that sound alike (I think the other is Europa). My all time favorite.

Salad
Who has a last name that you like? I like anything easy. I grew up with a tough one and thought I had it easier when I got married. No one can spell my husbands last name. I'd like Adams or Roberts (like Julia ;-) I'm tired of spelling mine.

Main Course
Name a popular movie you’ve never seen. I could have a page of them here. I don't go to the theatre. I am not a movie person. When I'm sick, I watch one on On Demand or HBO. Ok, Happy Feet would be one that comes to mind right now. I'd like to see it someday!

Dessert
Fill in the blank: Nothing makes me ___________ like ____________. Happy like Stamping. Or sleepy like reading.

made a few more simple cards...

Made this one for my niece's daughter who is 10. I am trying to use my stash. This is one of those DCWV cards that I've had sitting around. It worked! I've had the ice cream cone stamp for at least a year or two, never used it.

This one is really blurry! Sorry. I made it for my niece who loves red. Love that Junkitz Salsa paper!!

A few cards....

I was so busy at work today, I had no time to breathe in the afternoon. Came home and decided to make some cards to relieve stress tonight. I used a SCS sketch for both.

This is for my great niece's birthday. The bug is SU, card by Memory Box, sentiment is a Studio G from Mike's.

This was an effort to make one for my All About the Bling swap. It didn't make first place. It's hard to see the shimmery chalk on the flower in the photo. It's a Hero Art stamp and the middle has a few blings. The sentiment is SU.

Nothing crafty to post...

I had a great mail/free gift day though! Got my package from Kimi in MD with ribbon swap & card-lift swap items. I got some really cute cards and gorgeous ribbons! I was so happy with the teal ribbon because I have a hard time finding teals and it's my favorite color. These are two swaps I was NOT disappointed in!

I made a quick graduation card and futzed around with some swap cards (putting a few insides & sentiments on). I'm giving these to a friend at work who gives me great salon products for free!! Her dh is a salesman & gets lots of samples. So she brought me root lift spray, hair spray and shampoo - a very upscale name that I won't mention in case someone is looking! LOL As if someone would be on MY blog!! hehe It's actually Goldwell. Nice products!! Anyway, I want to give her some cards since she's one that buys sets from me for gifts.

My question is, do you use salon products or regular products from your pharmacy or retail store? I used to buy salon products but use cheap shampoos in between. I love Redken 10 guts and 18 hairspray but now that I have the Goldwell products, I use these instead.

I have a few cheap shampoos that I buy - Fructis and Pantene. When my cousin is going to the beauty supply, she gets me Biolage (my fav). I wash my hair daily and don't condition (too greasy). So I typically switch off between the good and the good cheap. What do you do?

Weekend update...

Friday night we did our usual exciting activity - food shopping. Sat. I went to ACM for their Make & Take day. I just wanted to see what they had and have an excuse for spending just a tad since I sold some things.

Well, I made a cute card using the Cuttlebug and another using the Cricut and the Fastenator. I may have to get one of those.

So anyway, I put my name in for the drawing and heard them call out while I was shopping. I was waiting patiently for the second name and it was a Linda something. So I finished up shopping and went home. My phone rang and I looked at the caller id and almost didn't pick up. It said Moore but I couldn't see the rest. Then it dawned on me! So anyway, I won a Ez Lock caddy. It's basically about 4 or 6 of the plastic divided trays that fit in a black case. It's very nice but I'm not sure if I'll use it. It was fun to win though!!

Sunday went to a baby shower for my dh's cousin and saw his family. It was very nice but I didn't behave food-wise....

Maine lo...

I don't usually blog on Sundays but thought I'd post my so-so lo of Maine since I asked for suggestions. It's not artsy and not publish-worthy but it's done (other than the journaling in the green box. I used distressed rub ons (K& Co. I think), Junkitz transparency letters, a foam stamp for the fern. TFL!

TGIF...

I'm feeling like a flunky at the moment. It's been crazy here and I messed up an appt. Grr....no excuse, I just messed up.

Ok, as I was driving in this a.m. I saw a bunch of people holding signs for an election. They were waving at the traffic and some people were waving back, others ignoring them.

So my random question for the day is, do you wave back when you see this? Or when you see a live advertisement for Quiznos or something like it? I typically ignore them. I get annoyed with the political signs because I don't really care who they want me to vote for. I feel bad for the teenager holding the Quiznos (only one I can think of at the moment) sign. So what do you do?

p.s. On a positive note, I did scrap a page last night! Not done yet, but almost.

How to embellish without using flowers...

I scrapped again last night. I didn't complete the 2 pg. lo but it's all adhered down. I just need to embellish. It's titled "Maine...the way life should be" as their state motto signs read. I just don't know what to embellish with. It sounds like a strange combo but the paper is a beautiful sky blue and the other papers are gray (pulled that out from the dock photos & lots of rocks) and olive green (for the mountains that surround the lake & the green grass). I don't want to use flowers here. I'm actually getting sick of using flowers on every lo. I thought about leaves but they need to be green because it was summer, not fall. Any suggestions? I forgot to take a photo.

What Color is Your Brain?

Got this from Diana's (Msherrera) blog and it's really true!

Your Brain is Blue

Of all the brain types, yours is the most mellow.
You tend to be in a meditative state most of the time. You don't try to think away your troubles.
Your thoughts are realistic, fresh, and honest. You truly see things as how they are.

You tend to spend a lot of time thinking about your friends, your surroundings, and your life.

Before I get busy...

Just wanted to post a quick & simple card I made for my brother's bday. I had to get it in today's mail. He's a manly Harley-ish kind of guy so I had to make it dark! LOL

Tuesday, June 19, 2007

what a day!

No time for fun. I'm heading home in a minute & hope to make a few birthday cards tonight. My brother's is Friday.

I also hope to get a lo done. I have some pretty Maine photos on some beautiful sky blue Bazzill paper, just sitting there waiting to be scrapped! More later!

Monday, June 18, 2007

I did it!! I finally scrapped.

I don't think I'll post the lo though. It has a full frontal view of my house and my address is on one of the journal spots. Anyway, here are two Father's Day cards I made before that. The Happy Father's Day didn't show up as much as I thought in the blue card. I stamped in white craft and embossed with clear but it sort of disappeared on me as it heated up!

Feast One Hundred & Forty Eight

Appetizer
Fill in the blank: The best thing about where I live is the four seasons and gorgeous coastal towns and beaches!

Soup
Create a new name for a deodorant: Phresh & Phree.

Salad
What was the last piece of software you installed onto your computer? I didn't. I always leave that up to a technie neighbor for home and a techie at work.

Main Course
If you were to receive a superlative award today beginning with the words ”Most likely to…”, what would the rest of the phrase say? Most likely to bust out laughing if someone falls. (I cannot help myself).

Dessert
What two colors do you like to wear together? I love the color teal, light or dark, with black. Who doesn't love black anyway?!!

Today is better....

Until they get back from the retreat!!! It's very quiet here now and, as you can see, I"m hard at work! LOL I'm just cringing about when they return in the afternoon.

Anyway, I forgot to photo the father's day card I made for dh. I have to make another from me. Question: Do you give your dh a card from you and a card from the kids (if any)? I always do.

I need a vacation!!

It's crazy here at work. NO time for fun. I've been putting fires out all day. I hope it ends soon! Not likely though. :-(

I also need some home alone time and that won't happen any time soon. Since dh is unemployed, I get bombarded as soon as I walk in the door. He must be lonely during the day. He's keeping busy but this man can talk. As a matter of fact, he doesn't know how to stop. LOL So he's very demanding of my time when I get home and I finally sit down to create and my cell rings. It's my ds wanting a ride home. Ugh....I need to do something about this but I'm not sure what.

Ok, I just cannot get my real mojo back....

I try and try and it's too much work! I think I'm going to have to do some challenges with color and or sketches. Here are two just ok cards I made because the birthdays are coming up. I used Junkitz Salsa papers and transparency ribbons.

Quick blurb about Toys R Us outcome...

They were wonderful! I called the XXXX, NH store and they said to bring my receipt in, no problem. So I called back because that store wasn't close to me. I asked if I could bring it to the NH store near my house and they said sure. They called the store ahead of time, I went in and got my credit. Fantastic!!

Well, at least I tried!!

My son and his gf gave my mom this adorable card that her mom made. I tried to lift the idea as best as I could with what I had. NO, it's not even close. Brenda's is so cute! I need to find that stamp.

and here's mine.

Hmm....

A few things...the party went ok. My BIL did not even come down from the deck to say hello or to do the cake thing with his grandkids. I'm not sure if it was just because we were there or what. Anyway, it was good to see SIL, nieces, nephew and great nephews. One of them looks just like my 17 yo when he was that age, a little blondie with a crew cut!

I got ripped off yesterday and I"m going to try and correct it today but have no hope. I was at Toys R Us to buy the boys gifts, got two of the same thing. It rang up a lot higher than I expected but I didn't pay much attention, swiped my credit card and went out to the car to wrap. So it was bugging me when I got home. I checked my receipt and I was charged for three of this item. Ugh....why didn't I pay attention at the register?!! So I'm going to call the mgr. to see if they can verify it by checking their inventory. It's not close to my house so to go back up there is a major hassle. More later.

I forgot to say while waiting for my dh at band practice, I headed to a BIG AC Moore. I didn't have much to spend so I chose carefully. I got some Junkitz transparency ribbons and Heidi S. journal spots in ledger. Had my fix for a while!

Busy bee...

I was so busy at work yesterday between my current boss moving up to his new position and my new boss coming in, all while our fiscal year end is happening (and our summer semester), I'm going nuts! So...no blogging time for me. I even skipped the Friday Feast.

Had my boys here for dinner for my mom's bday and we had to cook in rather than out. It was raining pretty much all day. We had delicious steak tips, chicken kebobs, shrimp kebabs, rice pilaf and a delicious cake made with ice cream sandwiches (in Kraft magazine this month). I even had a piece, went off the diet for a bit.

Tomorrow will be difficult. We're going to a kiddie bday party at my BIL's. He and my dh haven't spoken since about 2 yrs. ago after their mom passed away. He wants to go because he doesn't think it's fair to punish our niece and her kids. It'll be very uncomfortable, I'm sure. Can't wait until it's over.

I hope I have some play time tomorrow night. I'm having withdrawals....more later.

QOTD.....

I feel like I'm copying Stacy here but I just had to ask a question....

This morning, I tried to take a self portrait so I could email my best friend in GA a photo of my new haircut. When I look at the outcome, I nearly die. Do I REALLY look this way? If so, I seriously need a facelift and complete makeover.

So...do you think you look like your photos? Or do you always hate them? Some people are just photogenic and some are not.

I wonder how you find out what you actually look like?!! LOL I hope the camera is wrong. :-(

What a day off.....

I got a comp day for working Sun. So...I got up early, got my son off to school, waited for the carpet people, did laundry, showered, went over the bill situation with dh, read People mag while waiting for the carpet installer to finish.

Went for a ride with dh to: post office, by a few condos/houses he's interested in downsizing to (:-( , went up north to a few stores. Bought new comforter for my ds' room and he likes it!!! Also found an area rug for the kitchen breakfast nook area (thanks to Maia!!!). Ran home and cooked dinner, then tried to put ds' room back together. Didn't quite get it all done and had to run and pick him up. He semi-liked it but wants to make some "minor adjustments". I'm afraid of what that might be!

I guess I'll get back to unpacking things and making his bed tonight.

No rest for the weary...

Fri. night went food shopping - VERY exciting! ;-) Sat. cleaned a little and helped dh with the boys rooms. Sun. worked at Commencement from 10-1:00 and went home and ripped through my youngest's room.

We are trying to get ready for carpet installation tomorrow. What a mess. I dusted and packed away a ton of crap from his desk & night stand. It's amazing what ridiculous things they save! I found a couple of VW decals that must have fallen off cars (he wants a Golf when and if he ever saves up for a car). I can't even remember the other stupid things I found. He gets so upset with us trying to take things away from him so I don't want to upset the apple cart UNTIL I talk him into setting his room up our way. We want it to look as big as possible when we put it on the market. It's a nice sized room but will look little with all of his chairs, couch type thing his friends sleep on, stereo, tv, desk, etc. So....I did toss a couple of things I didn't think he'd notice and also put a few in the attic, hoping he doesn't remember.

So last night I went into my room and tried to make some cards. I don't know what's wrong with my mojo but I cannot create lately. It takes all I have to get some card done that I'm not crazy over. Oh well...

Here are two I'm not very proud of but had nothing else to post! One is for my niece who just got engaged and the other is for a three year old boy's bday.

Card to share...

Here's a card I made for a graduation congrats for our terrific TA. She is the BEST!

I used: SU Delight in Life & papers & inks in cool caribbean and ballet blue
CTMH sentiment (forget the name of the set) & those fibers
and Stickles (my fav!) forget which color I used but it's not diamond

A letdown, I'm sure...

Ok, the big secret didn't have anything exciting in it for anyone but me. My aunt was promoted to 2nd in command here and my boss is third. Both are labeled as interim but who knows what will happen in 6 mos. I'm staying where I am for now. I'm kind of feeling left out, LOL. I guess I should be happy I have a job.

The only reason it was such a big thing is that I had to keep it from everyone here, including the people I work closely with. More changes will follow next week. Shhh...! hehe
