To tread or not to tread....

Ok, I need some honest opinions here. We have these pretty wood stairs going up to the second floor and going down to the finished basement. They go up half way and then turn to the right the other half of the way.

My hubby thinks we should put stair treads on to help with noise and also to help with wear and tear. I hate to cover up the wood but I agree with him on the noise factor.

What do you think? Oh, and please excuse the box sitting in the front hall!

Oh my, your house is so gorgeous in each and every picture you post, Michelle! The wood is gorgeous and I'd hate to cover it up, but the practical side of me would probably win out. I don't have stairs and never have. One of my sisters does, and hers are carpeted or partially carpeted, probably for the noise.

Let us know what you guys decide to do :) Wish I could offer some useful advice :(

I really like the look of the wood, but then I don't have to put up with the noise. Not much help I know! Sorry :)

I think you should just leave them plain . . . they are too beautiful to cover up!
